Omicron Engineering is always looking for skilled staff to join our team, and finding staff is getting increasingly difficult.

The modern car industry has adopted a replace rather than repair business model with computer diagnosis equipment telling the operator what to replace and as such the old fashioned ways are dying out and most modern garage staff are inadequately equipped to make the jump from modern to classic cars.

Older cars are different, there are no diagnostic ports to interrogate, and whilst a surprising amount of parts are available, many are not and therefore require restoration, refurbishment or repair, or the adaption of something that is available and making it work .    Body panels often have to be hand made just like many of the original panels were.

So, if you think you have what it takes, please get in touch.

We have vacancies for the right person in both the bodyshop, fabrication and mechanical departments.

We have a vacancy in our bodyshop.   The ideal candidate should be multi-skilled in both metal fabrication, as well as the full painting process, including all aspects of filler work and lead loading, priming, painting and polishing in both cellulose and more modern two pack materials.    On the metal forming side, experience with forming complex shapes in both steel and aluminium, and welding with MiG, TiG and Oxy-acetylene.     Experience in dismantling and reassembling cars needed and a person with some mechancial workshop skills would be a bonus.
