Hard to Swallow
The Canterbury Tales
16-17-18 October 2008

Our next production will be "Hard to Swallow" adapted for the stage by Mark Wheeler from "Catherine: Story of a Young Girl Who Died of Anorexia" by Maureen Dunbar. Hard to Swallow is a powerful piece of drama based upon a true story.

It will be performed alongside two of The Canterbury Tales - Martin Riley's adaption of Geoffrey Chaucer's famous collection of stories dating back to the 14th century.

The performances will be held on the 16th, 17th and 18th October.

Tickets can be obtained from Julie Atkins on (01603) 716100.
Various group and early booking discounts available.

NEW ADDITION TO SITE

JULY 2007 - NEW WEB FEATURE FOR RACKHEATH PLAYERS MEMBERS
On-line forum and calender system allows members past and present to chat and keep track of rehearsals, social events and gossip. E-mail Andrew for your unique log-in access code or use the demo user ID: dramaqueen and password luvvie for 'look but don't touch' access. Dramaqueen can do virtually anything, except post or delete messages.

Without a valid log-in ID, the drama section of this forum is invisible to the outside world - hidden behind the disguise of a car club!

The Rackheath Players is an amateur drama society based in the village of Rackheath, just on the north eastern outskirts of Norwich.

We put on three productions a year - traditionally a pantomime in February involving many local children, and two other productions, one in Spring/ early Summer and one in the Autumn

Our output is varied - comedy, drama, pantomime, variety show, music hall, full length plays or one act plays - giving wide scope for people to try a bit of everything.

As a group we are almost entirely self-sufficient, with the occasional hire of the more specialised equipment, but most lighting, sound effects, music and costumes, as well as set construction, design and decoration are all handled 'in-house' by the group.

In 2001, the Players started Rackheath Youth Theatre, specifically designed to tutor younger (ages 9-16) members in the arts of speech, singing and dance. They have gone on to stage their own shows and have performed in many of the Rackheath Players own productions.

We are always looking for new members, and have a relative shortage of males and are looking for people with music playing abilities.  Also anyone whose interest is not on-stage are welcome as well, as there is plenty of backstage and technical jobs to do.

Rehearsals are held weekly at 8.00pm on a Thursday, at Rackheath Village Hall.  Rackheath is north east of Norwich on the A1151 - click to view map.   As a production draws near, more frequent and slightly earlier rehearsals are held.
