Sheep followed the Alpacas and Elizabeth chose an ancient breed, Jacob Sheep.
Jacob are slow maturing sheep which produce both wool and succulent, tender and not too fatty meat. Her first ram produced offspring for two years, before being swapped with another farmers ram to keep the bloodline fresh, but he isn’t as frisky as the previous one, and a second ram was introduced to the flock. This years lambing may take place over several months rather than several weeks. It should start in March…
Only one sheep has been named, Minnie, who was the first born lamb, born slightly prematurely and was very small. She has grown up now but Minnie and her sisters are still quite tame.
